Technical Specialist

Job description

In this role as a Technical Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our innovative engineering, design and development teams. With a technical background in physics and an interest in lasers and optics, you will apply your expertise to support our customers throughout the world. The role requires a proactive, curious, and outgoing nature with the ability to distil complex information very quickly.

Responsibilities

• Become an expert on our product portfolio and truly understand the unique value of our lasers from a customer perspective
• Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to our customers
• Report findings to our technical team
• Analyse customer feedback to improve products and processes
• Identify new market areas that would benefit from our products and collate market intelligence to be shared with the wider Skylark team
• Have ongoing conversations with our existing and potential customers about their research and application areas – becoming familiar with the technical and scientific details
• Build relationships with customers and support business development
• Support the generation and technical review of sales and marketing materials
• Collaborate with commercial and technical departments to assist in the successful delivery of the key targets
• Seek out and attend industry events, networking opportunities, and build relationships with our target markets
• Demonstrate products to customers and at trade shows when required

Required qualifications & experience

Essential:

• Able to successfully apply technical knowledge in a commercial environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to multitask
• Commercially informed
• Ability to build and nurture relationships with customers, partners and colleagues
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Degree (BSc or above) in Physics
• Able to excel in a fast-paced business environment
• Eligibility to work full-time in the UK

Desirable:

• Photonics / Optics experience
