Sales Executive
We are looking for a curious and commercially minded Sales Engineer who enjoys understanding how customers think - seeking to connect the dots and discover patterns across conversations, applications, and markets.
This role is suited to someone who asks thoughtful questions, listens carefully, and looks beyond the immediate technical requirement to uncover wider opportunities, customer pain points, market trends, and commercial insight. Success in the role comes from building strong relationships and translating customer challenges.
You will work closely with marketing, engineering, and operations teams to support technical sales activity and grow global markets.
Responsibilities
- Manage and qualify inbound enquiries from customers and distributors
- Build relationships through consultative conversations that uncover wider opportunities, challenges, and market insight
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation
- Maintain timely follow-up and guide opportunities through the sales process
- Gather and share market intelligence including competitor activity, pricing feedback, and emerging applications
- Maintain accurate CRM records and history of customer communication
- Represent the company at customer meetings, conferences, and industry events
- Continuously develop product, application, and market knowledge
Essential criteria
- Must have the right to work full time in the UK
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Curious and commercially aware, with the ability to ask insightful questions and uncover customer needs
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable with long sales cycles
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Persistent, adaptable, and confident following opportunities through to completion
- Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
Desirable criteria
- Experience within lasers, photonics, optics, scientific instrumentation, or advanced manufacturing
- Degree qualified, or equivalent experience, in engineering, physics, photonics, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with CRM systems and technical sales processess
- Experience preparing quotations, proposals, or technical documentation
- Exposure to international customers, distributors, or B2B sales environments
- Experience attending trade shows, exhibitions, or customer meetings
Sales Graduate

- Experience attending conferences, exhibitions, or networking events
