Skylark Lasers, a leading provider of compact, high-performance lasers for analytical and industrial applications, announces that it has raised a combined $5 million in investment to further its efforts in miniaturising laser technology.

Founded in the heart of the Scottish photonics cluster, Skylark Lasers specialises in design and production of compact diode-pumped solid-state (C-DPSS) lasers with the purest spectral properties that deliver high output powers from a compact footprint. The company has seen significant developments in recent months, appointing Dr. Ben Szutor as CEO and securing investment from Innovate UK.

The latest investment round led by Par Equity, a renowned venture capital firm with a track record of strategic investments in high-growth technology companies, reflects strong confidence in Skylark Lasers' potential to lead and disrupt its respective markets across quantum enablement and advanced manufacturing. Par Equity's long-term partnership has been instrumental in enabling Skylark Lasers to demonstrate and deliver key technologies critical to its global customers.

The infusion of this new capital will fuel Skylark Lasers' expansion plans, allowing the company to address the growing demand for its laser products.

Designed to replace legacy gas laser systems, Skylark NX laser products offer substantially higher power output from a compact footprint, delivering ultra-stable and efficient performance aimed at significantly reducing the overall cost of ownership for advanced manufacturing customers.

Skylark Lasers will enhance its manufacturing capabilities and double the headcount of technical staff, including laser specialists and electronic engineers, in its commitment to serve a $5bn addressable market.

Alastair Moore, Senior Investment Manager at Par Equity, expressed his confidence in Skylark Lasers, stating: " Skylark Lasers is one of the UK’s most innovative photonics companies and through its lasers is enabling breakthroughs in a wide range of application areas such as semiconductor inspection through to next generation quantum navigational systems. Since Par’s initial investment, Skylark Laser’s technology has continued to develop and evolve with the market opportunity for its addressable application areas also forecast to grow at attractive rates over the coming years. When we have spoken to customers as part of our referencing, the uniqueness of the Skylark laser technology coupled with the fantastic level of service that the team delivers have both consistently featured – clear indicators pointing towards sustainable success."
